About Office of Faculty Development

Welcome to the Office of Faculty Development (formerly known as Office for Innovation in Teaching and Learning). The Office is created to provide faculty professional development opportunities and pedagogical and technology support for faculty in different ways. The Office is located in the Continuing Education Building.

Office of Faculty Development (formerly known as Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning or Office of Faculty Development) is an innovative professional development unit for faculty. The Office of Faculty Development essentially regards teaching as a vital intellectual endeavor that calls for sustained focus and support at the institution, since its role in supporting instruction is at the core of the mission of Fayetteville State  University. The different opportunities and resources provided by Office of Faculty Development to faculty are designed to encourage innovative teaching, enable faculty to rethink curricular and instructional development and delivery processes, examine the appropriate application of technology to the teaching and learning process, and determine opportunities and strategies to engage students. Through the different programs and activities, the Office of Faculty Development seeks to create an environment that fosters faculty discussions and involvement on issues relating to teaching and learning in the university.

The Office is organized to provide services in five major areas: Faculty Development, Curriculum Development, Instructional Development, Instructional Technology, and Research and Assessment.

The Office of Faculty Development is under the leadership of a Director and an Advisory Committee. A ten-member Advisory Committee for the Office has been created by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The role of the Advisory Committee includes: holding periodic meetings to discuss matters affecting the Office; and making recommendations to the Director of the Office on arising issues on the request of the Director or as deemed necessary by the committee, on issues related to the mission of the Office, services provided, and the role of the Office in the University. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs or the Executive Vice Chancellor and the Provost may request the Committee to perform other duties.
